Blu-Ray Videography

We are really pleased (and excited) to announce that we will soon be offering complete and full blu-ray videography DVDs with every single wedding and civil partnership filming job we undertake. We didn't want to go head-first into a medium that is still rather new, so we waited patiently while the technology had time to improve and stabilise. We will soon be able to offer a blu-ray version of all new films that we work on.

You may not have a blu-ray player yet, perhaps you are buying for when you do get around to it (and the prices drop!) but buy being able to offer blu-ray versions of all our films we will be on the top of our game. Very few videographer businesses offer such a service and we are pleased to be one of the first in Bristol and the surrounding area.

Blu-Ray will give crystal clear clarity to all images that we shoot. We have always filmed using digital high definition cameras. Likewise, we have always edited the films in an HD editing suite and we are really looking forward completing the circle (without intending on sounding so dramatic)!

For a long time blu-ray has been available but it is only very recently that the medium has become more widespread within the film production industry and it set to become the standard in the years to come. We played it cautiously (as a earlier blog from 2008 shows) as the technology wasn't quite up to the high quality that we normally produce our wedding and civil partnerships DVDs with, but we are pleased so say that we will be rolling out the blu-ray films in the coming months.

Marryoke!

What the? It's a bit of a phenomena sweeping the wedding industry but what exactly is a marryoke? The simple answer is that a marryoke is just like a music video except the happy couple (and if willing, their guests) are the stars!

The slightly more complicated answer is that marryoke (just like karaoke, clever, isnt it?!) is a big production number filmed on the wedding day and features the happy couple singing along to a song of their choice. We shoot lots (seriously, lots!) of footage on the day and then edit everything together so that the end product is a seamless and fun music video.

Sounds fun? They really are! Filming a marryoke from a videography stand point is quite challenging. We don't normally direct our couples - we film in a very natural and documentary style - so this is the first big difference, there is a lot of direction. The second challenge is that filming the marryoke is not a quick process, it can sometimes take 5 or 6 takes to get the perfect shot (but trust us, it's worth it in the end!).

Marryoke's aren't for the faint-hearted or the introverted, it requires quite a lot of gusto (as our recent bride and groom found out when walking though Sydney Park in Bath singing merrily along to ABBA). The end result is a brilliant alternative to accompany your main videography wedding dvd. We will soon be posting the marryoke we recently shot so you can see exactly what we are talking about!

A Brief Blip...

Valentines Day Weekend

We had a very busy valentines day weekend! We were worked with some great clients and shot some fantastic footage. We were lucky enough to once again film at the Roman Baths in Bath -- a venue which never stops amazing me! It's an incredibly beautiful venue which always films well, the steam rising from the water is always a winning shot. I will blog some photos from the days filming over the next few days.

Let It Snow!

It's been totally unavoidable this whole week - all the news channels and newspapers are reporting on the biggest snowfall in the UK for nearly 20 years. We've had a disrupted week (cancelled meetings, snowed in clients!) so what does this mean for weddings? Come rain or shine the show must go on, so bring a scarf and wrap up tight because the wedding is still going to happen! We will be filming a wedding this weekend in what looks like is going to be very thick snow, we are prepared for all sorts of weather conditions including heavy snowfall. We allow much longer for travelling times and our equipment is protected to make sure it isn't effected by the cold weather.

Spare a thought for the newly married couple (BBC News) who were separated on their wedding night due to the bad weather! Let's hope it doesn't get that bad!
