The Ultimate First Dance!

As most couples know when taking to the dance floor on their big day all eyes are well and truly on them. Regardless of whether it is 10 guests watching or 200 you will surely feel the pressue a bit.

Spare a thought however for Barack and Michelle Obama who last night took to the dance floor for their first dance (of sorts, as Mr President and his First Lady) with a global television audience of millions and millions! I have long been singing the praises of the popular Etta James song "At Last" as a wonderful first dance song choice and it would seem that the new President of the United States and his wife agree as they chose the song (which was performed by Beyonce - watch it here) for their dance floor debut.

As Marcus, the other partner of Adam Huckle Films (and main videographer) is from the USA we have been following these events closely. Surely if a song is good enough for the new President and his wife then it's gotta be good enough for everyone else?!

Over the past few days we have been gathering our information from past wedding videography clients to put together some statistics. Client feedback is very, very important to us as it helps us grow as a business and better ourselves. It is also a fantastic way of showing possible clients what other couples have said about our services. Word of mouth and recommendation are by far the best for of advertising there is!

"What Do We Call You?"

There is a question I am often asked by many people, which is "What do we call you?". Not in regards to my actual name (Adam will do just fine!) but in regards to the service we provide. It's a very valid question because most occupations have just one name. If you're a doctor, then you're called a doctor and if you do wedding photography you're called a wedding photographer but as soon as you get into the realm of wedding films it all get's a bit iffy.

If I am asked by someone what I do for a living I will say I am a "wedding videographer" but often this is met with a blank stare or a quick "i'm sorry, a what?". As soon as I say "I film weddings" it all becomes a bit more apparent but it is still not always clear. If further confusion ensues I usually follow it up with "you know, wedding video, film, DVD" and then the lightbulb above the persons head goes off "Oooh, well why didn't you say!".

The professional term is wedding videographer. If people who take photographs are photographers then people who video weddings are videographers - It makes sense I suppose. However most people know wedding videographer by another name which is usually "wedding videos" "wedding films" or "wedding dvds" however we are still called "the film people" or "the video guys" quite often.

None of them are wrong and all of them are suitable. People want to obviously make sure they are referring to the correct term and we usually say "anything's fine" but it's always nice to have a bit of clarity!

New 2009 DVD's Are Ready!

We are very pleased to finally announce that our brand new 2009 wedding videography promotional DVD samples are ready for posting! We had to put a few finishing touches to the trailers but they are now ready to send out. We had some eager potential clients already submit their details so the packs are already in the post and on their way to them. A brand new selection of trailers are now up and running on our website! During our busy 2008 videography season we filmed some really beautiful weddings and civil partnerships. Under Construction

A small section of the website will be down for a few hours today as we perform some updates to the website. This includes adding a selection of new trailers to our online demos. Hopefully if all goes well we should have everything back up and running within a matter of hours.
